Cradle of Humankind Race 2016

Cradle of Humankind Race 2016

Thank you to every runner who made the effort to run the Cradle Race on 27 April 2016.

We are pleased to say that our race out & about in the country side has grown from year to year. In 2015 we had our biggest field ever with 2300 runners on the day.  As this race leaps in popularity each year we have prepared for a field of 3700 runners for 2016. Little did we know that 2016 we will be hit with an explosion with more than 5300 runners. In our wildest dreams we never expected this to happen.

I would like to apologise to each runner who didn’t receive water/coke at water points or a medal at the finish, but in the same breath want to thank and commend my team with their initiative shown to make a bad situation better. We went and bought extra bottled water, filled containers at the finish and kept driving up and down the route filling the empties to ensure that especially the back runners did not suffer.

The Cradle Race is sanctioned by the Central Gauteng Athletics (CGA). Race referees enforce CGA rules and all disqualifications are determined by the referees. As per the referees, disqualified runners will not be entitled to a medal.

Krugersdorp Road Runners wish to thank all for supporting our Cradle of Humankind race proudly sponsored by Nordland Lighting, Sportsmans Warehouse, Truckor Transport and Makiti Wedding Venue.

Thank you for your positive comments and feedback. We will notify you where & when to collect your medals.

Kind regards

Raymond Nel
